How can I tell what brush I used to paint something?

Congratulations. You found one of the most wanted hated omissions of the Affinity suite. 😉

Seems just the case for the iPad version?

I wouldn’t get too excited! Since pixel brush strokes are merely collections of pixels, it’s limited to highlighting the very last brush used. And the list isn’t retained between sessions.

Was just telling by the look of it - using desktop versions here. But finding at least a name in a huge collection would help methinks. Other than make a new category regarding project or other criteria - duplicate brush and move to new category - yikes!

Actually, an Affinity brush is just a preset -- a collection of brush properties -- many of which can be changed on the fly while using the brush without affecting the preset. So even if there was a list of recent brushes there is no guarantee that choosing one again will produce the same results the next time it is used.

But yeah, being able to find a previously used preset name would still be helpful.
