phoenixart Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Hi there, Any chance the gradient tool can see some improvement? This probably has been asked a few times already, but I find myself really spending a lot of extra time with the gradient tool, and I wish it would be a bit more effortless to use. A simple example in PS working on a mask layer. It's like kind of painting with the gradient tool: 2021-08-18 17-38-03.mp4 Doing the same thing is simply not possible in Affinity Photo, plus, every time I access the gradient tool all the previous settings are gone, which leads to more extra time: 2021-08-18 17-42-09.mp4 I'm using Affinity Photo 1.9.2.1035 eiketre and IPv6 2 Quote Piero Desopo Direction, Design <http://phoenixart.com> Photography <http://www.pierodesopo.com>

phoenixart Posted August 20, 2021 Author Posted August 20, 2021 Thanks @Wosven I thought there had to be more threads on the same topic. I see the one you linked started two years ago, which makes me think this may not happen, not soon at least. eiketre Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 I have all the tools from Affinity and they are fantastic. However i am still using Photoshop for my 2d game art due the gradient tool. In photoshop i just drag a gradient line and paint on multiple times very quickly. There must be a way for Affinity to solve or implement a simmilar feature? Quote

Different need about this tool: Also, if the gradient tool could pick Foreground and Background/Stroke colors as default, it could be handy to create easily gradients/fills It would help in this situation too: PaulEC and Alfred 2 Quote
Wosven Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 And some other ones: If the Gradient Map Adjustement Layer and the Gradient Overlay Effect could pick gradients from the ones saved in the Swatches... Old Bruce and IPv6 2 Quote
eiketre Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Yes i see it has been discussed earlier. I tried studio and designer where u can add multiple, but i have to stick with photshop until i can do what phoenixart shows in the video above. I use it all the time, so i have to stick with ps. I hope the devs. reads the comments and decide to make a similar tool. Quote

I still try to use Affinity as much as I can, though. In fact, that's what I use most of the time, at least when I know I can take it slowly. That said, I'm eager to see how much 1.10 has improved once the new fix will be available. Quote Piero Desopo Direction, Design <http://phoenixart.com> Photography <http://www.pierodesopo.com>
