HughOSB Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 I have had a search around and could find only one topic that seemed like mine, and trying the proposed workaround (removing and re-applying the master) did not work for me. I have set up a simple Master page to accommodate page numbering. It works on every page except one, which has thrown the page number out of the footer box. So far I am struggling to find a way to adjust vertical alignment with the footer box (or any field for that matter). But I am lost as to what is causing this. I attach screenshots of the problem page and the master. Sorry of this is basic stuff but I am at a loss. Thank you. Quote
Wosven Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Hi @hughosb and welcome, It's probably APub messing with the text frames and putting regular text in the frame for page numbers. Try to names the frames in the master pages, perhaps it'll help APub reconizing them when adding master pages, to flow the text correctly. They are "smart master pages" (check some videos about this), but even smart AI can get it wrong sometimes Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 I think we will only be able to say for sure if we have a sample .afpub document that demonstrates it. You could make a copy of your document and replace the text with Filler Text. We might even only need the Master Page(s) and page 30, if it will recreate with that. I tend to use the bruttish method of stopping flow and reflowing to right frame, or erasing the master pages, applying the expected one, and reflowing (but I do this when I only need to do this on 1 page, if there's more, I test naming the frames). But we're not talking about flowing text here. And I've never seen that problem with page number frames. The 1st screen shot show the resulting problem, the 2nd the original master page. 3 minutes ago, walt.farrell said: And I've never seen that problem with page number frames. It can be a flow problem, but also one of those 2 options that need to be checked: (my mind can't find the translation right now!) I'm not sure why those problem occur when re-applying a master page and not before. Quote
Old Bruce Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 It could be that there is an override applied, accidentally, to the page number 30, this could be a leading override which is bouncing the 30 to the next baseline grid. Put the text cursor in the footer's text frame on page 30 and reapply the Paragraph Text Style for the Footer Page Numbers. You really should have one, if not make one and apply it to your page numbers on the master page. HughOSB Posted August 18, 2021 Author Posted August 18, 2021 Thanks Walt. I will just post a copy of the file thus far (attached) - the text is not top secret and will bore you to sleep I suspect! footer fault file.afpub Quote
HughOSB Posted August 18, 2021 Author Posted August 18, 2021 Old Bruce—thanks for the idea, but it does not help in this instance. I created a text style for the footer page number, applied it in the Master, then went to page 30 and applied the text style there. No change. Even removing any style on page 30 leaves the number below the footer box. Quote
Old Bruce Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Ninja-ed by Wosven. You just have to remove the Jump for the Text Frame, set it to None. HughOSB Posted August 18, 2021 Author Posted August 18, 2021 Wosven—thank you. I tried the first option, in text wrap, with no effect. The second option/photo...I am having trouble finding that settings panel in English! Old Bruce—is ther attached what you mean? Quote
Old Bruce Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Yes, but wrong frame. The Frame with the text and the picture in it.
