JohnAustin Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 A'Pub is crashing with no other applications running, just A'Publisher, not even email, The book is mainly photographs, 84 BW in high res'. The book is in CMYK, 144 pages and 203mm square. - Surely this in not too big for A'Pub' running on an iMac with Big Sur and lots of space - Do I need more RAM? Quote

Not what I would look at first if the document is crashing When does it crash, on opening or doing something specific etc? Do you have crash files/dumps you can upload to the forum? JohnAustin Posted August 15, 2021 Author Posted August 15, 2021 Started crashing when scrolling, with the right bar or with space bar and little hand. I thought it was because the images were linked, so I embedded them, after this it crashes on opening. According to Mac Finder the book is 1.2Gb. I feel that perhaps book is too big, as the Howard Taylor book is only 48 pages max, and this is opening and functioning perfectly. I have started the Forest Witness book again, as the text elements are all held on Pages as separate units and the image scans are in a Tiff folder, so I can rebuidld it, and while tedious, I will be able to avoid early errors. I note there is a way to build the book in sections, like front, mid and back, 0.4Gb or 32 pages each. However, i have not been able to get Section Manager to open a second or third section. The idea for this desire is to split the 96 page book into three independent sections which I presume the programme will manage. I tried reverting to A;Pub 1.9, but that is behaving in exactly the same manner. Quote
Quote

JohnAustin Posted August 19, 2021 Author Posted August 19, 2021 Beta has not loaded, but I have decided to rebuild the book in four sections, as I have the text sections in Pages format in a desktop folder. I tried to upload the book, but internet connection in Australian remote areas is world's worst. Thanks John Quote
