Ninjas Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 File was original a Photoshop template. When I double tap on (Design, edit this…) layer. (2nd layer from top), it opens a layer that can be edited. (Embedded) When click on back arrow on top left of menu. Top left on I-ad, it brings me back to this window. I cannot do the same with top layer (Back Design..). Why? Why do some layers have orange colored tick mark boxes, some have blue, and some do not have either color? Thanks! Quote

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. The creator of the template "tagged" those layers with colors. You can do the same in Affinity. Right-click on a layer in the Layers panel, and scroll to the bottom of the right-click context menu options. You'll see some colored circles that will let you assign (or remove) the color tags. Ninjas Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 Thank you, Walt. Worked. I imported a PSD file with embedded objects. Why do some Layer in Affinity for iPad allow me to double click those layers imported objects and other layers do not. Allow this? Also, what is the pushpin button for, in layers panel-top right. Thanks! Quote
Ninjas Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 Hi Walt, The imported layer is a pixel layer. Sometimes the layer imports these layer as pixel layer and sometimes as pixel layers. I can double click the embedded layers to adjust. I will try to figure out a way. Quote

I can double click the embedded layers to adjust. There is an option in your application Preferences to "Import PSD smart objects where possible". Note the "where possible" in that option name. Sometimes it is not possible, because the PSD file used some effect or other function that Affinity does not understand. Ninjas Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 Thanks Walt, I re-imported document, and now they both show as imported. Thanks for the explanation on the pin function. Makes sense now. Much appreciated! Quote

Ninjas Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 Hi Walt, In Affinity Designer for iPad. Version 1.10, is it possible to save an embedded tab in layers as png? Quote

Sorry, but I don't have any experience with that on iPad yet. I can try playing with it, but I can't give an immediate answer this time. And I'm not really sure of the structure of your file. If it's not one you paid for, can you attach it here? Not directly (original content), maybe indirectly (export of rendered image) copy layer close document create new from clipboard above steps 1-3 ensure that only content from embedded file is visible. You can skip this if your file has no edits active, and the embedded file is scaled to 100% (move tool) export as png This saves a new file based on the rendered content (not 1:1 the original data), using the export settings regarding document and color format etc. Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.
