Ision Industries Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 I was reading about “measuring guides” for the desktop app in this article here. I mainly use the iPad app in my workflow so I’m curious how I can enable these type of guides while working on the iPad without a keyboard. How can I see the distances between objects relative to their group and other objects? I have attached screenshots of some of my projects on desktop. Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 The distances show up automatically for me on iPad as long as Snapping is activated. No need for holding any keys. These snapping guides are called Dynamic Guides and they do help out when snapping but this isn’t exactly what I am looking for. I am looking for Measuring guides that show the distances between objects relative to the selected object, as shown in this screen recording. Note, this screen recording is showing the measuring guides feature on the Affinity Designer desktop app, I am looking to access this feature on the iPad app. Quote

I'm talking about the distances; they're automatic when moving objects in Designer on iPad, for me, as long as Snapping is active. Ision Industries Posted September 6, 2021 Author Posted September 6, 2021 I already know how dynamic guides work, my question is regarding “measuring guides” on iPad specifically. Quote

And my answer was that they work the same way on as on the desktop, at least for me. If they're not working for you, and you have enabled Snapping (as they are a Snapping feature) then I'm not sure why you don't get them. Sorry. Sorry. Initially I didn’t see them either but after creating several separate objects and moving them around the iso guides, the distance measurements were apparent in certain locations. It appears necessary to have an 'active' object ie tap and hold/move. Selecting and object (tap and release) does not display any measurements.
