Affinity Photo: How do I add a mask to a pixel layer and have it already clipped?

Hello, 

New to AF Photo and I am trying to figure out how can I add a mask to a Pixel layer that automatically gets clipped like this:

 and not like this:

Is there a way to achieve this?

That behavior depends on settings in the Assistant (View > Assistant Manager on Windows, or click the tuxedo icon on the Toolbar):
