BruceFerjulian Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 V 1.8 Bug V 1.9 Bug V 1.10 ( This bug still has not been fixed. Do bugs ever get fixed. Original Post: So this is what it looks like. 1. I first start out with the mouse pointer a few pixels below the scroll bar and I get a pointer shape. 2. Then I move the mouse pointer a few pixels higher, and normally it would remain the same shape but since I have the ( INPAINTING ) tool selected it changes to a circle. Again if I move it a few pixels to high then I am inpainting there is not change in the pointer shape to tell where the pointers location is , ( i.e. Is it a mouse pointer or the INPAINTING tool). 3. Now I make my brush super large and it becomes almost impossible to figure out where to place the huge honking circle to it's still has focus on the scroll bar. When the mouse is outside of the frame containing the picture, it's shape should stay the system defined shape. Quote
Staff MEB Posted August 9, 2021 Staff Posted August 9, 2021 Hi @BruceFerjulian, As you know we already have this logged but unfortunately there wasn't progress here yet. I'm bumping the report to bring it up to developers attention again in the hope the issue is looked at. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you. Thank you for your patience and support. Clay Tarver Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 I have similar occurrence. In inpainting, cursor is usually a circle, but sporadically changes to an arrow, then after a bit back to a circle. The tool works as expected while in arrow mode, but is difficult to use accurately. Staff MEB Posted September 13, 2021 Staff Posted September 13, 2021 Hi @Clay Tarver, Welcome to Affinity Forums Can you give a few more details please? If i understood correctly you are saying the Inpainting Brush Tool changes to an arrow (similar to the Move Tool is guess?) sporadically and remains an arrow cursor for a bit while you are still Inpainting. In what circumstances does this happen? Are you moving the cursor over or near the app's interface, are you using any shortcut while inpainting which may be triggering the change in cursor, something else? I'm not expecting the cursor to change without anything else happening/triggering the behaviour... can you pinpoint what may be? or alternatively record a small clip showing it happening? Thank you. BruceFerjulian Posted September 17, 2021 Author Posted September 17, 2021 What I am saying is that outside of the application, the base OS will set the pointer shape to an arrow. If I move my pointer outside of the application from the bottom into the application, the next unique location should be above the scroll bar and I should be able to use the scroll bar with the same pointer shape that the OS assigns but Affinity changes the shape to the in-painting tool as if my mouse had made it all the way into the image area. If my in-painting size is huge, then I have to use this huge shape in the scroll bar area which is not correct and means you will not be able do differentiate between the image or scroll bar area because in this example, the pointer shape will stupid huge for both places. Old Bruce Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 I too experience this hassle with the scroll bar, I don't think it is restricted to just the Inpainting brush here for me. Any brush seems to exhibit this problem, doesn't need to be too large either. BruceFerjulian Posted September 17, 2021 Author Posted September 17, 2021 Well ( Old Bruce ) if you too file a bug report using a different tool but with the same problem, hopefully someone will listen. I am not getting much traction on this. Quote
nwhit Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Just tried and I get the same thing. Does it with several tools that I tried. A bug for sure. Staff MEB Posted September 20, 2021 Staff Posted September 20, 2021 Hi @BruceFerjulian, What you are describing is the same as you reported in your first post on this thread to which i replied the issue was already logged.@Clay Tarver post doesn't mentioned the scrollbars specifically. I was just trying to double-check if it's indeed the same issue (probably it is). In any case I'm bumping the existing report to bring it up to developers attention. I'm sorry there wasn't progress here yet and the inconvenience it is causing you all but this is in management/developers hands now. Thanks for understanding.
