GarryP Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 (edited) There seems to be lots of questions from users asking how they can update the software and the usual response is to ask what operating system they are using and where they purchased the software from. If the user remembers then another post is generated with a reply and then another post is often needed to tell them what to do. If the user doesn’t remember then various questions need to be asked to find out so people can figure it out. With this in mind, if the About splash screen said where the software was purchased from – e.g. “This software is licenced to run on <X> operating system and was purchased from the <Y> store” – a stock reply could be written and posted to the FAQs which could then linked to as an answer to the question without the extra time/effort. (I don’t know how easy/difficult this would be to implement.) Maybe the same screen could also have a link which took the user to the relevant information in the Help or the forums. Then all anyone needs to do in this sort of situation is say: “Go to menu Help → About <application>” and press the link for all the information you need.” Just a thought. MikeTO Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Alternatively, the Check for Updates command could exist even in the App Store version. But when you choose the command it would open a friendly little dialog informing you that you'd purchased it from the App Store. garrettm30 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.5 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.5 for macOS Sequoia 15.3, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)
