manu schwendener
HiI suppose canvas rotation is something you added to AP to be consistent with AD.I'm never going to use it, though - could you let me turn it off in Preferences? It keeps happening while I edit my photos. Of course I can get used to View - Reset rotation, but it would be nice not having to. manu schwendener
Or let me undo it with cmd + z, that would be fine already. manuschwendener.ch
anon1
You can give it a custom keyboard shortcut in the preferences (under the "view" category)
manu schwendener
Thank you, I'd like to try that. Being dense atm though. In the help text for custom keyboard shortcut I see: From the initial two pop-up menus, filter shortcuts by Persona and then by UI Element, respectively. From the lower shortcut list, click in the box (containing empty or existing shortcut) at the end of a shortcut entry for the shortcut you want to change. Press your chosen keyboard key(s) to assign. This adds the new shortcut or overwrites the assigned shortcut. When I click on Preferences - Keyboard Shortcuts I see what's on the screenshot and don't get any further. manuschwendener.ch

manu schwendener
Thank you MBd, that worked. (I'd still like to be able to turn canvas rotation off as it happens a lot since Beta 1.3.5.7 when I zoom photos - which is really often.) Edit: like mystrawberrymonkey below I'm using a track pad (macbook pro retina) anon1, My Strawberry Monkey and mikeswarts 3 manuschwendener.ch
GreyGhost
Personally, I have say a BIG THANK YOU for the ability to rotate the canvas. This is something I requested as a feature earlier and find this an absolute essential function for my illustration and compositing work flow. Well done the team loving the improvements. paolo.limoncelli

My Strawberry Monkey
(I'd still like to be able to turn canvas rotation off as it happens a lot since Beta 1.3.5.7 when I zoom photos - which is really often.) I want an option to turn it off for good. It may be a great feature for some, but it's annoying me now. It should have a check box for on or off, having a shortcut doesn't make it any less frustrating. I'm using a track pad and as I move around it keeps accidentally rotating, we shouldn't have to keep resetting the canvas. Having the ability to rotate isn't an issue, its not being able to turn it off when you don't need it. :D Allan LilleG, mikeswarts and manu schwendener 3 About me: Trainer at Apple, Freelance Video Editor, Motion Graphics Artist, Website Designer, Photographer. manu schwendener
> A preference setting ... would make people of all sorts happy Indeed. It's here!https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/14968-affinity-photo-customer-beta-1358 Preferences -> Tools -> Enable Canvas Rotation With Trackpad -> uncheck ----- Edit: if there's a solved tag, it would be fitting for this thread. mikeswarts
I would like to be able to disable it with a mouse too. Sometimes I press Command+scroll instead of Option+scroll and my canvas starts spinning. I'm sure it is a good feature for some, but I also will never use it and I find myself doing extra work because of it Jason Ma

derd.fx
Rotating the canvas back to zero does not work as it does not snap. It just stays slightly off. And who would need a canvas rotation of 0.5 degrees? Please consider letting us rotate it back to zero degrees (without menu options or keyboard shortcuts) for faster workflow. Anyway. Love your software. Keep it up! Dominic Edited May 21, 2021 by derd.fx typos
