Designer for Windows - 1.10.0 slow to offer update and version confusion (split)

Guys. I'm sorry that this 1.10.0 update was slow (a few hours only) to be added to the auto-update mechanism, but that is now resolved.

The slight confusion over version numbers should now be clarified (thanks Walt)

I don't think these posts for well under the announcement post, so I've split them off

I just want to check that this will continue a trial started yesterday with version 1.9.2.  I'm sure it won't be revoked, but I'd like to make sure nonetheless.

Your trial is the full version (simply not unlocked, so only a trial) and this new build will continue your existing trial, yes.

Of course, we could just ask them what numbering system they are using.

They have said that, e.g., in 1.9 the "." is not a decimal point. @Old Bruce is right, the "." is just a separator, that separates a major version number ("1."), a minor version number (".9.", ".10."), a point-release (".0.", ".1.", ".2."), and a Build number (".1127"). Each of those separate numbers is a stand-alone, unbounded decimal integer that runs from 0 (or 1, for the major number)) up as far as Serif wants it to run.

That makes sense. Thanks.

It's very unusal to release a 1.10 after a 1.9

As a Windows user, are you really taken aback by this way of versioning?
