walt.farrell Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. Your SetupUI.log file has this error message: +Error: Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Affinity\Designer\d3dcompiler_47.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory. When you say you've run as Administrator, do you mean that: You're installing using an account that has Administrator authority? or You right-clicked on the executable and chose Run as Administrator? For users that have this problem, #2 will work in cases where #1 doesn't. stokerg 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. EarlD Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 Thanks Walt. I am using an administrator account and I'd also tried using the "run as administrator" option. Turns out my antivirus software - 360 Total Security - was blocking the installation without any notification or anything. Not good. Now I'm going to look for better antivirus software. Affinity Designer has now installed and runs. Now the fun begins! Thanks again! EarlD walt.farrell 1 Quote
Komatös Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Hello @EarlD, You don't need to install any extra antivirus software! Microsoft Defender has been one of the best antivirus solutions for years. https://www.av-test.org/en/ stokerg 1 Quote MAC mini M4 | MacOS Sequoia 15.5 | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9060 XT 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.4351) Windows 11 Pro on VMWare Virtual Machine (on Mac) Affinity Suite V 2.6.3 & Beta 2.6 (latest) Interested in a free (selfhosted) PDF Solution? When I read what you said I thought, “Nah, that can’t be true... can it?”. Then I read the information in the website and it’s very interesting. I think I need to do more looking around about this. Komatös Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 With every additional external application that operates with increased system rights, a possible gateway for malware is created. If any component in the additional application is faulty, criminals could possibly use it to inject malicious code.
