lastingMadness Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Hey guys, So I've been using Affinity Designer through several iterations and usually I have no problems to speak of. Recently though, I've had the software start crashing. Usually it happens as I'm trying to save an asset from a selection. Funnily enough, the asset ends up saved anyway, but Designer crashes in the process. I'm currently running the public release build 1.9.2.1035. It's usually just a problem when saving assets but I also just had a crash occur when I was fiddling with a text box. My computer fan went nuts and then Designer died. That's all I've got Quote Hardware: Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.60 GHz Installed RAM 32.0 GB Graphics: Nvidea 1660 8GB Art examples: http://MadMaker.redbubble.com
Komatös Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Hello @Kyle Gunderson, maybe one of my suggested solutions works for you. Try the Designer beta. There are many improvements and corrections. If that does'nt helps try with deactivated hardware acceleration. Go to Edit --> Preferences --> Performance. lastingMadness Posted August 1, 2021 Author Posted August 1, 2021 Thanks for the tip. Seems odd that it would be hardware issues though since I've got twice your RAM... Nonetheless, I'll give it a shot/ Quote Hardware: Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.60 GHz Installed RAM 32.0 GB Graphics: Nvidea 1660 8GB Art examples: http://MadMaker.redbubble.com

Nonetheless, I'll give it a shot/ The amount of RAM isn't that problem. It's a combination of the hardware components. It is also not yet clear which combinations work and which do not. What is certain, however, is that hardware acceleration is currently not possible with RX 5000 and 6000 graphics cards. AMD is already aware of the bug, but they are probably not very interested in optimising the OpenCL drivers.
