Travus Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 I need to crop to a specific size of 1200 x 400 px and my mouse is too sensitive to get the exact dimensions (adjusting the sensitivity isn't working that well). I can crop it, but getting the exact size is causing me real issues as I'm not getting it free handing it. Quote
AlanPickup Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Welcome to the forum Does this specifically refer to the beta version and was something you could do in the retail, if not you are better posting in the support and questions section windows section. If you have the AFphoto you can do it there in unconstrained mode in crop. soem may be able to help you better if you repost in the other forum section as i am not to familliar with Afdesign Quote Alan Pickup Windows 11 Home all Affinity suite of Apps PC and Gigabyte Laptop 16gb Ram and Nvidia GTX1660 Super on each.
Travus Posted August 1, 2021 Author Posted August 1, 2021 Thanks for the reply. Yeah I paid for it I'll contact support as I do not have AFphoto. Quote

Without being able to see what you're doing, if you use artboard tool, after you lay it down, you can then move to Transform panel while it is selected and set exact while it is selected. You could also try laying down a throw-away object, say a rectangle, etc, to set a corner for you to start dragging out artboard if you need specific starting point, drag out to approx... then adjust afterwards set anchor point in Transform panel where you started your artboard from that object's corner and adjust to exact dimensions. If it's an object/layer you're cropping, then you can also create an rectangular object of that exact size... set it as a clipping mask to that layer or object... export. Old Bruce 1 Quote
Travus Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 (edited) The first is a stock photo from pixabay and the second is the one that I modified to fit the exact size I needed. Before when I adjusted it by hand in full screen it would jump 2 or pixels at a time. Then I figured out that if I zoomed in very close I could make finer adjustments (tenths of pixels), so I was a able to modify it down to the exact size that I needed. As it turns out worked but was a very clunky way of doing it so I would appreciate an easier way. I guess I'm missing a step, but looking at the transform panel I don't see anything for "exact size." The last pic on the bottom is the snippet of the transform panel that is displayed on my screen. My apologies for being a total noob as I'm new to Affinity Designer, so I appreciate the help. Brian_J Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 @Travus The screenshot you posted is what's called the Context Toolbar — it changes based on the tool you have selected. To access the Transform Panel, in the menu: View > Studio > Transform — it will appear in the Studio on the right side of your screen.
