JPrice98 Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Hi, So i have affinity designer on my ipad pro, the storage of my ipad is 64GB. Currently… Affinity designer is taking up 40.9GB of storage. I used to think it was because i was designing floor plans 1:1…. But now im doing it to scale on A3 artboards and its even HIGHER than before! I know there was the exact same forum in 2018 but the problem has returned with revenge. Please SERIF… provide a solution. Thx Quote
Alfred Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 How many documents have you saved to the app’s sandbox? Apart from the danger of losing your work if there’s a catastrophic failure that results in your having to reinstall the app, documents saved locally can (as you’ve discovered!) take up huge amounts of space. Use the ‘Save a Copy’ function to move most of your documents to cloud storage. JPrice98 Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 But 41GB of storage… thats normal? I have 26 document ranging from A3 moodboards to A4 documents to small files for logos and stationary design. Quote
Alfred Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 No, 41 GB sounds quite excessive! I also have total storage of 64 GB on my iPad, and even though I’ve sometimes kept dozens of files available within the sandbox the total has never been more than 10 or 12 GB. walt.farrell Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 How does one measure the storage that's being used? And, does that method measure the documents in the sandbox, or does it also include things like installed Assets, Brushes, etc.? JPrice98 Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 Walt.Ferrell Go to settings, General, then Ipad Storage and you’ll see how much storage each app takes up. If you click on AD it shows you the storage for both the app and documents walt.farrell 1 Quote

Still, if that includes things like Assets, etc. then a significant amount of storage could be taken by those, depending (for example) on which of the content packs from the Affinity Store (or elsewhere) you've decided to install. With a bit of experimentation I have confirmed that it does include installed Assets, brushes, etc. I have a ton of content packs from the Affinity Store. With none of it installed Settings showed that Designer was using 155MB of iPad storage. With most of it installed, it shows 20+ GB.
