VirginiaL Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 hi you all, if I set up a page, with some elements - each one in its layer - is there a way to copy the whole layout (or part of it) in a new page by maintaining all the layers? Thank you in advance Quote

Have you ever tried it yourself? Yes, copying the elements to a new page preserves the layer structure. VirginiaL Posted July 29, 2021 Author Posted July 29, 2021 yes I am trying but then there is something I am making wrong. I copy, paste and all elements are free and separate without hierarchy Quote
walt.farrell Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Can you show us a screenshot of the source, before pasting, including the Layers panel? walt.farrell Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 It should work as you want, as long as you select the Layer, not the objects, in the Layers panel and then Copy. VirginiaL Posted July 29, 2021 Author Posted July 29, 2021 it was so simple... I can't believe it, thank you very much last question if I may: is there a way to switch off the same layer for all pages? for example: English / Italian translated brochure, I would like to switch off all Italian layers in the whole document (same name of course) Quote

Turn off the English and do the layout for the Italian, then turn on the English and turn off the Italian. Turn on off on the Master pages. VirginiaL Posted August 9, 2021 Author Posted August 9, 2021 hi Old Bruce. First, thank you. Second, I don't understand it very well. Master pages are rule-pages, then if I put text here is not useful for the management of my book. Example. I have a book, an one master page is index. My index is made of 6 pages. It is not comfortable have 6 master pages. Or do you mean to switch off only layers from master page but then go to normal pages and work there? I tried by switching on-off a set of layers in a master page (in an existing file); it does not switch off the selected language. What do I make wrong? Thank you in advance. Quote

My master pages have text for things like Page Numbers, The Book Name and Author. Real small amount. So yes you are correct. But what I do is add an empty text frame on the page for the text of the book. I link them if I am using facing pages. I would not use a Master Page for an Index, nor for a Table of Contents. I am meaning I would not put text frames with the Index or the ToC on a master Page. Empty Text Frames with appropriate names sure. Take a look at this, I have labeled the text frames. Use the master Page to change languages. two languges.afpub VirginiaL 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. VirginiaL Posted November 23, 2021 Author Posted November 23, 2021 I had the time to check finally now your file; I didn't want to check it fastly or badly, sorry for my bad timing. It is perfect!! How did you make the connection between the layer of the master and the layer inside the single pages? No link at all, just a layer? Thank you very much Quote
