My Photoshop-trained fingers automatically reach for the tab key on my keyboard when entering width and height sizes using the crop tool. I enter the width, hit the tab key and instead of the height field being automatically selected as I expect, the tools vanish. Doh. Obviously the tab key is set to hide tools not move fields.

Is there a way to tab from field to field so I don't have to carefully select each field manually using my cursor?

Thanks.

FWIW, on my Mac the tab key cycles among the fields in the context toolbar when the Crop Tool is active. This works even though I also have the shortcut for hiding the UI set to the Tab key default.

When you say it hides tools for you, do you mean the Tools panel, one of the toolbars, or something else?

My Spidey-senses tell me you're in Separated Mode.

EDIT: not so sure of my original smart answer. I've been Separate for ages and Tab switched fields in the Context Toolbar. I switched out, and Tab toggled the UI. But then I switched back to Separated Mode, and Tab still toggles the UI. I'll report back...

EDIT AGAIN: Back in Separated Mode, I cancelled the Crop tool, selected it again, clicked into one of the numeric fields in the Context Toolbar and Lo! I could tab between fields once more. So I am more sure of my original smart answer now than I was five minutes ago.

Although I have to say that they must have left the tab ordering to the intern...

FINAL EDIT: To prove my point, I shall now squander a significant chunk of my upload allowance...

Tabbing from the number in any dimensions field takes you to the insertion point before the units in the same field, not to the next numeric field. Some tabs appear to take you nowhere unless you persist. Such are the joys of the Affinity interface.

It also works fine on my Windows system.

If I click in the width field, and Tab, I get to the height field, then units, then DPI, and finally to the Rotate button. At that point another Tab toggles the UI, and then repeated uses of Tab continue to toggle the UI.

No, I'm not using Separated Mode.

Here's a wee screen capture showing the steps: open image, select crop tool, select resample, enter width size, tab to move selection to height field and what I get is tab1 = shows crop area width over the photo, tab2 = nothing, tab3 = tools and palettes hidden, tab4 = toggle between tools hidden and tools visible.

For me tabbing simply doesn't move the selection from field to field the way I feel it should. Od

Oops, my original point was directed at @R C-R

But if I switch to non-separated mode I get the same results as you.

I am not using separated window mode either. And oddly enough, even with the AP Crop Tool in resample mode, repeatedly tapping the Tab key cycles among width, height, & DPI fields, assuming I start with any of those fields selected (either with something in the field highlighted or the cursor blinking in that field) to give the Context Toolbar the focus.

If no field has the focus, then the Tab key toggles hiding the UI.

Maybe the difference is I run Catalina?

Same results as you for me with 10.14.6 (Mojave)

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I'm on a Developer Beta of a more recent version of macOS but I can't say any more than that.

Well, you could say what happens if you have a retail version you can test with.
