Digs Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Dear All, I am newbie to Affinity Photo and trying to learn the photo editing. I am trying to create a selection of flower to replace the background. But no matter what I do, I am getting a line around the edges on the selection part. If put this selection on white fill layer / any other background it does not look good. You could see that information in the "Affinity Photo _Selection_(113.5%).jpg" file. I tried to refine the edges, using Matte, Reduce border width, smooth, feather.. tried multiple options. Definitely I am making some sort of mistake but not sure what. I have seen on official tutorials and in you tube tutorials people are doing perefect selection. I have attached the original photo as well as screen shorts of selections. As usual your guidance and help is really appreciable. Kind Regards, Quote
Staff Lee D Posted July 29, 2021 Staff Posted July 29, 2021 Hi @Digs Welcome to the forums. It may be a case of finding the best solution that works for you, part of the issue is that those areas are slight out of focus. This doesn't help when wanting a clean selection, usually you can enable Soft Edges on the Context Toolbar to help with the transition. The following seem to work ok for me, make the selection with Soft Edges enabled, then I shrank the selection by 1 pixel and then created a mask direct from the Layers panel. Quote
