Dan_AppleBee Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Hi all New to AD so please be gentle! Hope you are able to help with what I think is a simple query!! It might help to give a bit of background as to how I use AD before I explain my query My business designs and manufactures wooden engraved signs and wall art, using a CNC router. The CNC router uses software called Vcarve pro which is CAD vector-based software which spits out code to control the machine. The Vcarve CAD software is good, however doesn't have many of the typography design features that AD has. Therefore use AD to design (fairly) simple black and white 2D designs, which I then export as EPS to import into Vcarve. The issue I have is that I have used some dashed lines (curves?) in AD, however when I export as EPS and then import the design into Vcarve, it shows a simple line. There is some other spurious stuff too, but most of that is editable in Vcarve, however I'm struggling to re-create the dashed lines....!! Would anybody have any idea why this is happening, and how I could resolve it? Would also appreciate any input on the recommended export settings, given that all I need is vector information? Generally all I use is text / fonts, and some simple lines and other imported vector graphics. I've attached the AD file here, alongside a screenshot of Vcarve to show the issue. Any help much appreciated! Cheers - Dan A OOD 2 - We do, drink, eat, party.afdesign Quote

Welcome to the Affinity forums @Dan_AppleBee! I exported your file as EPS and it opened fine in AI CS6. Perhaps only Vcarve has problems with the EPS. Have you ever tried to export as PDF or SVG? From the product description Vcarve should be able to import PDF and SVG as well. Dan_AppleBee Posted July 28, 2021 Author Posted July 28, 2021 Thanks @Joachim_L! Yep tried both PDF and SVG... same issue 🙈 Interesting it imported ok into Illustrator... 🤷♂️ Actually just checked the quick preview in MacOS and can see it looks ok on those. Any ideas? Quote

But you can use menu Layer >> Expand Stroke on those dashed lines to see if this helps.
