Eggsu Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 I am on a macbook pro 2016 version. Affinity designer was working for me when i accessed it this time last year. Today I accessed it and it keeps crashing upon start and causing me to do a force quit. I updated my macbook to the latest software to see if it would make a difference (MacOS Big sur 11.5), which it didn't. I also have Affinity Photo and that loads, however it is extremely slow and keeps pausing. I am not running any other applications on my computer when I am trying to run affinity designer. I have also tried uninstalling/reinstalling but that didn't work either. Please help. Thanks, Quote
Komatös Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 Hello @Eggsu and welcome to the forums. I'm not that familiar with Apple devices, but a starting point for a possible solution is to deactivate the hardware acceleration under Preferences --> Performance in APh/AD. Staff Callum Posted July 29, 2021 Staff Posted July 29, 2021 Hi Eggsu, Welcome to the forums Please could you try Komatos's suggestion above and if it doesn't improve your performance could you tell me if the app freezes and then responds or crashes? If it crashes could you provide the latest crash log which you can find by following this guide: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98904-faq-where-to-find-crash-reports/ It would also be handy if you could provide a screen recording of this issue Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
lisawilkins Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 @CallumSame issue here with AD and AP. (2017 Macbook Pro 11.5.1 & AD 1.9.3) I tried turning off acceleration but it continues to crash. Mostly when I'm editing swatches in a custom, system-wide palette (I make a swatch then move the order of the swatches). 2021-08-01 20:19:37.930 Affinity Designer[7660:116967] Failed to initialize color list unarchiver: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4864 "*** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver _initForReadingFromData:error:throwLegacyExceptions:]: non-keyed archive cannot be decoded by NSKeyedUnarchiver" UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=*** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver _initForReadingFromData:error:throwLegacyExceptions:]: non-keyed archive cannot be decoded by NSKeyedUnarchiver} Quote
