I'm trying to migrate away from Illustrator and have used the trial version of designer. I own a Roland digital printer. To have my machine print and contour cut out the graphic file, I need to create a spot color of 100% magenta and give that color a specific name. The print program sees this as the contour cutting line. When I save the Designer file as an EPS file, the roland software does NOT read this cut line. If I open the EPS in Illustrator, that magenta spot color has changed to 99% magenta and 1% cyan, yet the name remains. Therefore it doesn't recognize the cut line. it must stay at 100% magenta. If I save the same file as an PDF, then my machine will read the cut contour line properly. I prefer not to do this since PDF color profile files, especially ones containing photos, are not as accurate as EPS  color profile files. Plus I have some issues with the print software if I want, for example, to add some black to red (100,100) for a stronger color output. If there a fix to this so I can save my work as EPS files. Otherwise I'm thinking this flaw is only one of several in Designer which may keep me from migrating over and dumping Adobe.

Welcome to the forum @A Sign Company

Just to start the ball rolling, what export settings are you using for EPS export, take a look at the more section as well, are you allowing jpeg compression etc?

If I export to eps I can open the file in Illustrator and the colour maintains 100% magenta.

for firstdefense = I did have the compression on at first, removed it and it still change the named spot color.  For lagarto - thanks, I was afraid of that response. Unfortunately, I have used my trial period up so I can't try more tests. $50, is fair, but I don't need to purchase something that doesn't create a good work flow for me. - thanks all
