Dear users, I am trying to get rid of very thin white borders around the bounds of text and picture frames in a pubisher file. They are obvious because the background is the same colour as the (inset) border I added to the frames to be able to cut them out safely later on... If they would only appear inside publisher it would be fine, but they also are present in the exported TIFF for print... Any idea? Hope I don't have to remake the whole file in "some other" application...

Hi @thomasdgand Welcome to the Forums,

Could you attach your afpub file for this?

In a quick test with a picture frame and text box, i couldn't replicate the same issue.

I add my original file here.

Just discovered when remaking it in InDesign that the same problem occurred there. Had to use "align stroke centre" and a double width stroke to remove it. Stroke set to inside gave the errors.

I am using Publisher 1.9.3 on an older Macbook Pro running OS X 10.12.6 - maybe the OS has something to do with it...

Hi thomasdg,

You have to set the outline of the circles to "center" and the line to 10 pt, then you have the same look without disturbing white edges. Your outline is on "inside".

Why Publisher behaves like this, I don't know. "Er steckt ja noch in den Kinderschuhen", as we say in German.

I'm seeing exactly the same thing. It's because the strokes on the circular picture frames are aligned to the inside. If you align them to the outside of the frames (or set the strokes to empty) you won't have the issue. But you will have to re-size the circles.

No, the size of the circles does not need to be changed, only the stroke width. So this is hardly any work.

Hi @thomasdg,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Another way to fix it is to select all picture frames (not the groups - to avoid text objects being affected), click the cog icon in the top right of the Layers panel and set the Antialiasing to Force Off.
Not a good solution sorry, the circles will suffer from turning off the antialiasing in this case (would work with rectangular pictures though).

@MEB But this works only for the screen view, it has no effect on the exported document.

I remember having such white lines also in exports from InDesign. However, they were irrelevant for the print shop and did not appear in the proof or in the print.

Felix
