DNANomad Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 While using the Refine Selection Tool to refine the edges of a selection the tool randomly stops working. The adjustment panel for the tool stays on screen but the photo image reverts to the original image. After closing the tool the selection then reappears on the image. Restarting the tool works as normal but again randomly stops working. The attached image is indicative of the images I am working on with this problem. Are there any adjustments from the default settings that I should make or could there be some other reason causing this issue? Quote
Staff Lee D Posted July 26, 2021 Staff Posted July 26, 2021 Hi @DNANomad Welcome to the forums. It's not something I can recreate on my system. I know it seems random but would it be possible for you to try doing a screen recording of your workflow so I can see it happening and the steps taken. Quote
DNANomad Posted July 26, 2021 Author Posted July 26, 2021 Thanks for the response Lee. Screen recording is not something that I am familiar with but I will attempt to do this. Might be a day or two though. Quote
DNANomad Posted July 26, 2021 Author Posted July 26, 2021 Hi Lee, a further update. I have just completed the task with perfect (by my newbie expertise) results. What I did was to basically reset things. Originally the image got into Affinity from a photo in Mac Photos using the edit in Affinity option. I had processed a number of photos this way, 2 or 3 using this tool, and the Affinity app had been open for a few days. So what I did was to close the Affinity app and exported the photo to my desktop, then after restarting Affinity I opened the desktop file and went through the selection and refining process, all went very smoothly although I certainly was waiting with trepidation for it to fall over. Not sure if this gives you any avenues of thoughts on the problem or not but if it does I would certainly welcome your comments on this thread. In the meantime I will get on with processing my photos including using this technique and if the problem appears again I will return to this post with the screen recording. Many thanks. Quote
