roguefx Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 I added a drop shadow to an image and you can clearly see where the edges of either the text box or the margins are. Quote
Old Bruce Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Hi and welcome to the forums @roguefx, We would need to see a screenshot of the layers panel with the photo and other layers below it. I think what you are seeing is another object (a rectangle) that is underneath the photo. roguefx Posted July 25, 2021 Author Posted July 25, 2021 Here's the layers, I smudged out the book name. It's super simple, in that area of the page there is only a framed text box with the image over it Quote
roguefx Posted July 25, 2021 Author Posted July 25, 2021 I did a little test and resized the text box, as you can see it's related to that Quote
Komatös Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Yes please arange the float.jpg unter the text layer. Komatös Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Has the text layer a white backround? roguefx Posted July 25, 2021 Author Posted July 25, 2021 no idea, I've been mucking with it for 5 minutes, the color options are pretty unintuitive in my defense I've been using Apub for a grand total of about 3 hours Quote
h_d Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Try either setting the fill on the text frame to None: Or setting the Blend Mode on the Outer Shadow effect to something like Hard Light: Quote Affinity Photo 2.6.3, Affinity Designer 2.6.3 Affinity Publisher 2.6.3, Mac OSX 15.5, 2018 MacBook Pro 15" Intel.
roguefx Posted July 25, 2021 Author Posted July 25, 2021 well, I got my text looking better. Apparently having the stroke set to none doesn't matter if there's a color set. I'd call that a bug too. Quote
Komatös Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Forget my suggestion with the text layer 😏 Quote MAC mini M4 | MacOS Sequoia 15.5 | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9060 XT 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.4351) Windows 11 Pro on VMWare Virtual Machine (on Mac) Affinity Suite V 2.6.3 & Beta 2.6 (latest) Interested in a free (selfhosted) PDF Solution? roguefx Posted July 25, 2021 Author Posted July 25, 2021 doesn't seem to matter what blending style I choose, it's always there. Took a while to figure out I had to click the little gear to get that option. Still haven't figured out how to get the text frame options. I tried selecting it under the view/studio menu, but still nothing Quote

roguefx Posted July 25, 2021 Author Posted July 25, 2021 Yeah, did that, still don't see anything Quote
roguefx Posted July 25, 2021 Author Posted July 25, 2021 somehow I managed to remove an outline on the text, but only on that page. Tried editing the master, tried doing the same thing to other pages, nothing. So far this program isn't blowing up my proverbial skirt. I also just discovered the the text I placed can't be updated, so it isn't really linked. Yet I cannot change the name of the text frame in the layers. I might have to wait until 2.0 to mess with this, doesn't seem quite ready for prime time Quote
Komatös Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Unfortunately, I can't recreate it here. Brian_J Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 @roguefx, If you provide the file it would be easier to see what's going on, but based on your screenshot of the layers panel, it looks like there may be a fill color applied to the text frames on the master page. I know you mentioned you tried editing the master, but I'm wondering if there are edits that need to be made on the text frames in the master page. If an object's stroke is set to 'No line style' a stroke will not be applied to the object, even if there is a color is set in the 'Frame stroke fill.' Regarding the text that can't be updated, is the text frame only on that page ... i.e., not in a text frame from the Master A page? It could be that the text frame was created on a single production page but it was put in the Master A page layer. If that's the case, right-click the master 'Master A' layer and select Edit Detached, move the text layer outside the Master A layer, then click the red Finish button.
