This keeps happening...to EVERYTHING.  This image is 3456x3888.  I only have it zoomed 200%.

I can't do anything.  Everything is doing this.

The fist is 4500 x 5400.  I was trying to make a profile frame for Facebook.  Scale it down and this happens.

Even text is pixelating when I zoom.

I've also been having another issue:  If I "open" a document and then "paste" it into a doc it keeps i2021-07-24.thumb.png.ca839829adeb1af9a8f3052ca96c8883.png88332801_2021-07-24(1).thumb.png.f69b2d231ed1ce4f833bf181919298ef.pngts resolution.  If I file>place, it is a lower res.

It's a puzzler, any chance the file can be uploaded?

The fist can be easily made into a vector.

I assume the view quality setting is set to bilinear (Best Quality) in Preferences > Performance

I didn't have "bilinear" checked.  I did so...

I know the fist can, but I wondered why I had to...ya know?

Not sure if I can do that...it's a stock photo.  You cannot normally share those unflattened.

Did you have to pay for a license to use it? Where did you get it? From one of the stock photo sites provided in AP? Those can be, unless you paid for the license.

If you look at the very first screenshot, it tells you where it came from: https://depositphotos.com/182781698/stock-photo-young-lady-with-red-hair.html

Hi Nita,

It is unfortunately going to be difficult to advise without a copy of the images but I'd rather you don't breach any licensing agreements you have agreed to. I notice you seem to be having issue when opening the images somewhat unconventionally (pasting them into a document, File > Place etc) if you open one of the files Via File > Open how does it look?

Thanks

C

Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.

I did not realize that file/place was unconventional.  Am I not supposed to use that function?

I thought that was how one places another image/object into a document you are working on...

Could you explain, please?  I don't know what you are getting at...

Ron.P queried where it was from, I just pointed out the file name displayed in the screenshot tells where it was from, a simple thing to miss.

I think Callum is just trying to brainstorm and think of alternative avenues to see if they give a different result. So opening a file and working around the open file instead of creating a blank document and placing a file. I suppose the premise is if you are merely editing a file and there is to be no other work done, opening a file seems more logical than placing, but we don't know what you are doing with the file so it's just assumptions and blue sky thinking to find you a solution.

Affinity do offer an honour based dropbox link for commercial work, work that people would rather not upload to a public forum and paid for content. after looking at the potential issue they will delete said work or file hence the honour.
