Drew4n Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 Hi! I would like to ask, if there is something, that functions like "contrast" (in Photoshop) while working with mask refinement. You can see how it works in this video at 4:02. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHfGDfbXdT4&t=426s I wast trying to find something that would have a similar effect to make my masks better, but I failed. There is ramp, but i don't think it works the same way. Any ideas? Thanks :) Drew Quote
NotMyFault Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 Hi Drew, Photo differs regarding Masks refinement from PS. To my knowledge no "contrast" slider for alpha channel (masks refinement) exists. The nearest think to contrast i can imagine in Photo would be a levels adjustment, select alpha channel, and adjust black level and white level to increase contrast on alpha channel. Alternatively you can use curves. If works best when using only one pixel layer, creating a mask (before contrast), put the mask atop the pixel layer Add the levels adjustment on top. When happy with the result, you can nest the levels adjustment to the mask, and the nest again the mask to the pixel layer. But there are currently some unsolved issues with Photo 1.9.2 / 1.10 (beta) breaking this workflow when using nested adjustments impacting alpha channel. This is why i recommend to not nest the layers (until the issues are solved). This (depreciated / legacy) tutorial shows the idea: https://player.vimeo.com/video/242758748 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.
