In InDesign (from which I am trying to wean myself) I can produce a rectangular button onto which I can place some text and it looks quite nice. When I use the bevel and emboss panel in AfPub I don’t seem to be able to get the same appearance. Can someone give me a few clues as to how to achieve what I want? I will attach two screenshots but, as I post, I don’t know how they are going to appear. The InDesign one has a more pronounced shadow on the bottom and right side. Edit: Having posted, I can see that the InDesign one is the lower of the two.

On the side I have a 2019 27" iMac running Mojave 10.14.6 because that is the last OS that lets me run Adobe software without getting dragged into the subscription spiderweb.

Once you have the look you are after you can add it as a style to the styles panel for repeated use.

Thank you, Joachim_L. That is certainly the look I want to achieve.

Forgive my ignorance but are they two separate effects that you have applied to the one object? I didn’t know that was possible. And how did you decide on the particular azimuth and elevation? I presume you just slide them in the panel and watch to see the result on the page. I’m not even sure what azimuth and elevation mean.

Thank you too, firstdefence. That sounds like a good idea and I will bear it in mind.

No, you have to select one. I made a second, because the first was not near enough to your example at a second look. But of course you could add additionally e.g. an outer shadow.

Azimuth is basically the arc, so if you imagine a circle the azimuth is the angle point around the circle such as 135 deg the elevation is the relation of the object from it's outer edge. so 0 deg would be the outer edge, 90 deg would be the centre of the circle.
