Aaron M
I'm looking to remove line breaks within a text frame that were automatically created when opening a PDF in Affinity Designer, as well as line breaks I've added via Text > Insert Character > Line Break. I can't seem remove them with backspace or delete... I've tried copying the text in to Notepad and then paste it back in to Designer, but the link break persists. Thanks in advance for your help! walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. On Windows, putting the text cursor directly in front of the line break and pressing Delete, or immediately after and pressing Backspace, should work. Aaron M
Thanks Walt, that works for the line breaks I've manually added, but not the ones that were automatically created by opening the PDF. Is there something I'm missing? It's almost like they're "locked" within the document. Edited July 19, 2021 by Aaron M
walt.farrell
Can you provide a PDF that causes the problem, or (better) the resulting .afdesign file? walt.farrell
Thanks for the file. There are no line breaks. However, there is a right-indent of 149.2 pts, which you can see in the Paragraph panel, and that is causing the lines to break as they do. Set it to 0 and you should get what you want. Aaron M
Ahhh ok, thank you so much Walt, that did the trick!! I'm still pretty new to Affinity software so the text editing is definitely something I need to get used to. You're a life saver, thanks again for your help and quick responses! 😀

If you open the file in Publisher, even temporarily, you can choose to display the line breaks (and other special characters), which can make resolving issues like this a lot simpler: As far as I'm aware that option doesn't exist in Designer. AFAIK, it doesn't ... but if you open the document in APub & turn that option on & then switch to AD or save the file & then open it in AD, the special characters show ... & you cannot turn that off in AD.
