how to create slices with space around them

Recommended Posts

You could create a transparent rectangle, so no stroke or fill and group it with each image. Then in export persona select the group and create a slice.

what I'm looking for is a preset so when I hit create slices, it would automatically give extra pixels around each of them.

Unfortunately I don't believe this is possible currently, my apologies. I'll move your thread to the Feedback section of our forums for our devs to see and consider adding this in a future update :)

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

there's no way of  adding padding but you can export the slices as generated to a folder then run a batch job with a macro

Then maybe I should point out that I'll be using that feature to use with Spine (2D animation program) Since Affinity already has a batch builder specifically for Spine.

Thank you.

You can select all elements, open 'Layer Effects' panel and add the Outline effect with any stroke width & 0% opacity, then create slices for all elements, slices will expand space around them.

Hello,
When creating slices from the layers, is there a way to set it to have a few pixels around the images?  Or do I need to make them manually?

If you are exporting in order to animate these PNGs why do you need the extra space around them?

You could add a stroke of the required number of pixels and align it to the outside (or double the number of pixels and have it centred) then set it to black colour with 0 % opacity. Should give you the needed 'padding'.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I need extra padding when I create meshes in Spine. It gives poor result without padding.

But for now I will do the way you suggested. Thank you.
