Procedural Texture items in a vec3?

Let say I create a vec3 variable 

var ctr=vec3(R,G,B)

Can I then access each item (red, green, blue)individually in the vec3, like 

ctr.R

It is possible, but not well documented.

Only lowercase letters work, and rgb or xyz are possible:

.r, .x

.g, .y

.b, .z

You can only access components in the same line where it is defined, and „var“ are in reality not variables, but constants. So carefully check that you stick to all these constraints.
