StuartRc
Hi Doing some raster sketching in pixel persona but found that a lot of brushes supplied and personal were pixelating on screen/artboard. I was surprised as this has not been an issue for some time. The only difference I found is to do with grouping a pixel layer. 1. New file 2. Create pixel layer 3. paint draw on it This should be OK! 1. New file 2. Create pixel layer 3. Group Pixel layer>select pixel layer to paint 4. Pixelated raster painting I have attached a video: grouping px layer.mp4 kazbhardwaj 1 Affinity Version 1 (10.6) Affinity Version 2.4.2 All (Designer | Photo | Publisher) Beta; 2.5 2.2402 OS:Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.4046+ Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19053.1000.0 Rig:AMD FX 8350 and AMD Radeon (R9 380 Series) Settings Version 21.04.01 Radeon Settings Version 2020 20.1.03) + Wacom Intuous 4M with driver 6.3.41-

I don't think that "pixelating" is the correct term; the brush textures looked OK to me in your video. But the lag and the gaps are very annoying, I'm sure. I can recreate the problem, but only if I'm using an Artboard. In a canvas-based document it seems to work just as I'd expect. -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.

I wasn't sure how to describe it! I must admit the brushes are much more responsive in this beta.. I just came across this one by accident. Thanks for checking it! It looks as though the painting process is getting scaled or scratchy!...it's working fine in the released version...Initially I thought the brushes were broken but it's defiantly related to grouping a pixel layer.. If you ungroup everything it works again! I have not compared Artboards and canvas... debraspicher 1 Affinity Version 1 (10.6) Affinity Version 2.4.2 All (Designer | Photo | Publisher) Beta; 2.5 2.2402 OS:Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.4046+ Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19053.1000.0 Rig:AMD FX 8350 and AMD Radeon (R9 380 Series) Settings Version 21.04.01 Radeon Settings Version 2020 20.1.03) + Wacom Intuous 4M with driver 6.3.41-
Staff Sean P Posted July 13, 2021 Staff Share Posted July 13, 2021 Hi StuartRc, Thanks for letting us know - it looks like an annoying redraw issue - a quick change of the zoom level does seem to cause the document to redraw, but of course as soon as you start painting again it will happen. I've reproduced this and will get it passed on to development. walt.farrell, StuartRc and flobnoit
StuartRc
Just an update... (1.10.0.1127) Not just groups I have seen this in Layers > pixel layer as well yesterday.. Had to move the pixel layer outside the Layer to continue to draw...Much faster though! Andrew Reitsma
I'm having the same issues. Any word on a workaround while this is being fixed? Here is a screen capture. I'm on a MacBook Pro 15in 2016 running Big Sur, latest version. I'm using Affinity Designer 1.10.1.
