Tina_E Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Hello, I'm having issues with my Affinity Photo software. The program crushes each time I try to add adjustment layer and then set the contrast etc. I used the software for a long time and never had this issues so it can't be PC's specs. I haven't installed new software or anything. I tried to update it, then reinstall it, update my Windows but nothing works. Quote
PeteMacca Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Tina_E, there's a good chance that you can get working again by deactivating Hardware Acceleration. Go to Edit >> Preferences >> Performance and uncheck Hardware Acceleration. After that, you'll probably need to look at updating your graphics driver. Come back here and post your system's specs, and the experts can advise you further. Quote

I can post the specs but before this issue started it was working perfectly (on the same PC), I used to work simultaneously with Affinity and Photoshop without any issues. Now Affinity mostly works but each time I try to adjust contrast / brightness on any file it just crashes. Quote
Komatös Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 @Tina_E you can try the beta of Affinity Photo. Quote MAC mini M4 | MacOS Sequoia 15.5 | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9060 XT 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.4351) Windows 11 Pro on VMWare Virtual Machine (on Mac) Affinity Suite V 2.6.3 & Beta 2.6 (latest) Interested in a free (selfhosted) PDF Solution? Tina_E Posted July 15, 2021 Author Posted July 15, 2021 I still haven't found the way to fix it. Photoshop works perfectly but Affinity just crashes after trying to adjust any adjustment layer settings.. Quote
carl123 Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Did you try the beta as advised? Do you have any crash reports? Tina_E Posted July 16, 2021 Author Posted July 16, 2021 I did have a look but straight on the front it says this: Quote As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents. ... This is a HUGE no-no for me. I'm just wanting to use the working version I paid for without having it to crash or risk loosing all my files by trying beta version. If everything else is working on my part including Photoshop, it must be an issue on Affinity part. Where can I find crash reports? Quote

Installing the beta version will not affect your production version, and you would (of course) work on copies of your files with the beta, so it would not affect your production files, either. (The beta even prompts you and can automatically create a copy, if you try to run it against a file from the production release.) Mainly the benefit of trying the beta in your situation is to verify whether the problem is already fixed. 57 minutes ago, Tina_E said: Where can I find crash reports? RichardMH Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Do you also have Capture 1 and NVIDIA GPU? There is a known problem with it that causes crashes. Quote

RichardMH Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 Only other things I can think of is to try a clean install of your graphics drivers. You can also try changing the rendered to warp in Preferences. I get the memory spike with OpenCL acceleration on and it freezes. Quote
pier luigi Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Grazie, ho risolto disabilitando render con invidea.Saluti Quote
