Hello, I'm having issues with my Affinity Photo software. The program crushes each time I try to add adjustment layer and then set the contrast etc. I used the software for a long time and never had this issues so it can't be PC's specs. I haven't installed new software or anything. I tried to update it, then reinstall it, update my Windows but nothing works.

Tina_E, there's a good chance that you can get working again by deactivating Hardware Acceleration.

Go to Edit >> Preferences >> Performance and uncheck Hardware Acceleration.

After that, you'll probably need to look at updating your graphics driver. Come back here and post your system's specs, and the experts can advise you further.

Thank you. The Hardware Accelerations was already turned off. I can post the specs but before this issue started it was working perfectly (on the same PC), I used to work simultaneously with Affinity and Photoshop without any issues. Now Affinity mostly works but each time I try to adjust contrast / brightness on any file it just crashes.

I still haven't found the way to fix it. Photoshop works perfectly but Affinity just crashes after trying to adjust any adjustment layer settings..

Did you try the beta as advised?

Do you have any crash reports?

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

I did have a look but straight on the front it says this:

Quote

As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents. ...

This is a HUGE no-no for me. I'm just wanting to use the working version I paid for without having it to crash or risk loosing all my files by trying beta version. If everything else is working on my part including Photoshop, it must be an issue on Affinity part.

Where can I find crash reports?

Installing the beta version will not affect your production version, and you would (of course) work on copies of your files with the beta, so it would not affect your production files, either. (The beta even prompts you and can automatically create a copy, if you try to run it against a file from the production release.)

Mainly the benefit of trying the beta in your situation is to verify whether the problem is already fixed.

Ultimamente , dopo aggiornamenti 1.9.2, è un disastro . L'uso di  ram schizza subito alle stelle ed è impossibile lavorare . E' un disastro totale ... Non ho capture one e prima ha sempre funzionato bene

Translation: "Lately, after 1.9.2 updates, it's a disaster. The use of ram immediately skyrockets and it is impossible to work. It's a total disaster. I don't have capture one and before it always worked fine."

Only other things I can think of is to try a clean install of your graphics drivers. You can also try changing the rendered to warp in Preferences.

I get the memory spike with OpenCL acceleration on and it freezes.
