s543 Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 When I export a PNG8 or GIF with matte, what I would expect (based on other software) is that parts of the image with an alpha of 0 would be transparent, and those with alpha above 0 would have the matte. The actual export behaviour is that matte is applied everywhere on the image. This means that it is hard to use an image made this way on the web, because if the web browser renders the background colour just slightly differently to the image matte, a "box" can be seen around the image. Medical Officer Bones Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 Why bother with 1bit transparency anymore at this point in time? Browsers support full webp transparency and PNG transparency, as well as animated WebP and APNG files. GIF and Animated GIF files have pretty terrible file size optimization compared to the other more modern formats, and only support up to 256 colours anyway. I see no use case anymore at this point for the GIF format. Quote
