Athelu Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 Hello. I have two different machines (work/home) that I use Affinity publisher on. I have recently run into an issue where any documents authored on one computer cannot be opened on the other. Outside of that i can create new document and edit documents that are "native" to that computer. The moment i try to open one that was created on the other machine Publisher crashes with no error message. Both are running the same version: 1.9.2.1035 The files are saved in the same cloud folder (one drive) and kept in sync on both computers. Quote
GarryP Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 For the Affinity applications, it is generally recommended that you only load/save from/to storage devices which are physically, and permanently, connected to your machine, e.g. local hard drive. This is to do with how these applications manage their files – just-in-time loading, etc. (I’m not sure of the technical details.) Synchronising these files to a cloud storage service – save to local drive, sync to cloud, sync from cloud, load from local drive – should probably be fine as they are (mostly) self-contained – except for linked images and other things – but loading directly from the cloud has been proven to cause problems. I realise this doesn’t hep with your current problem but it should help to alleviate future problems. Someone who can help you with your current problem may ask for various logs so you might want to see if you can find these to have at hand when asked. The FAQs may help you with this: Quote
Staff Gabe Posted July 9, 2021 Staff Posted July 9, 2021 Hi @Athelu, Can you attach a crash report? Quote
Athelu Posted July 9, 2021 Author Posted July 9, 2021 It does not create a crash report. The app just closes. I do not see any files with the correct date in that folder. Quote

Staff Gabe Posted July 13, 2021 Staff Posted July 13, 2021 What of you copy that file on a different (non-synced) location? Is it fine? Quote
Athelu Posted July 17, 2021 Author Posted July 17, 2021 I have found that if i Run Affinity as Administrator, i am able to open the files. Wondering if it is a file permission/ownsership issue that is causing Affintiy publisher to crash Quote
Staff Gabe Posted July 19, 2021 Staff Posted July 19, 2021 What permissions do you have on that file/folder? Quote
