Hi there,

working with AD I stumble over a problem quite often:

when I copy or duplicate an object p.e. 10 times for a pattern and I want to colour ONE of those blue: all 10 turn blue...

How can I avoid this and colour them separately

Thanks for help,

Steffen

All objects is selected? Deselect them.
All objects is in the group? Unselect group.

Hi, Psenda,

thanks, but only ONE object is selected and they are not grouped - if I open context-menue, I could only group them, not ungroup them... .

I start with one object and multiply it by either copy or duplicate - I can select them separately afterwards, but if I colour the one and only selected ALL will change colour although they were definitely NOT selected...

Best,

Steffen

What does the word say in parentheses ( ) after the name of the layer(s) in the Layers Panel?
Can we have a full-screen screen-grab showing us what you can see, including the Layers Panel open and with one of the layers selected and visible in the Layers Panel?

Those are embedded documents.

All bets are off....

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

As Old Bruce said, they are Embedded Documents and they work differently to ‘normal’ layers.
If you change the Fill Colour of an Embedded Document then the software will try and change all of the layers in that document to the specified fill colour (I think, I don't use them much).
I would suggest double-clicking the original document (or a copy) and then copying the layers from that, then pasting the layers back onto the Designer canvas (so they are native layers).
Then you should be able to colour them individually.
