slaterousJ Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Hi there, I'm trying desperately to make the following trivial step: Copy the content/pixel informations into a mask layer. See Image -> So I could make a gradient mask. I tried to select all and copy paste it into the mask layer, but it creates always a new layer and doesn't paste the selection?! And when I drag the gradient pixel layer into the mask slot of the white layer, it all becomes white? Does anybody know, how to simply copy it into the mask? The only thing possible is to paint directly on a mask. But I need the gradient to be perfect. Thank you Quote
Staff MEB Posted July 6, 2021 Staff Posted July 6, 2021 Hi @slaterousJ, Duplicate the pixel layer you want to use as a mask then go to menu Layer > Rasterise To Mask. Currently it's not possible copy/paste data to mask layers (although you can load data into them through the Channels panel). slaterousJ 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

I will use the new Spare Channel from an appropriate channel of the gradient, then select the mask layer and use a right click on the channels pane to load Spare Channel into the Mask Layer Alpha. Extra fun in that there are some filters I can use to mess with the Spare Channel before.
