Photo crop tool - tabs, default and remembering last settings

Is it possible to set Resample, rather than Unconstrained as the default for the crop tool so I don’t have to choose it each time?

When setting the pixel dimensions for Resample, tabbing from field to field doesn’t work - it hides the palettes instead. Is there a different key for moving the cursor from field to field?

Is it possible to set the Resample dimensions and have Photo remember them when I switch from image to image? At the moment as soon as I switch to a different image it ‘loses’ the settings I entered and also reverts to Unconstrained. Having to set this again each time when I am cropping a dozen images is a bit of a pain.

Set your Resample dimensions and create a preset for it. Then use that preset on an image.

That preset will then be the default setting for all other images in that session.

(and sometimes when you restart APhoto, but that seems to be a bit inconsistent)

Thanks. How do I save it as a preset? I've looked everywhere in the crop tool toolbar but can't see this. Thanks.

Click on the cog in the context toolbar, then on the three tiny horizontal lines top right in this window. Not very intuive ...

FWIW, long ago I realized that when I get a new app unless I click on every icon in the UI, I am almost certain to overlook some of its features. It is even worse for some of the built-in Mac features because Apple in its infinite wisdom has decided that some icons should only appear when you mouse over where they are hiding in the UI. 😕
