joshuabbutler Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 Dear Affinity, I was just using a file and closed it. Then I wanted to make one more change and opened again, it gave me the attached message. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. This is the second time this has happened. Do you know how I can fix this file? Thanks, Josh Quote
Staff MEB Posted July 5, 2021 Staff Posted July 5, 2021 Hi @joshuabbutler, Welcome to Affinity Forums Are you working on a file stored in a cloud service folder (iCloud Google Drive, Dropbox etc) or in an external drive/pen? If so please copy the file first to your local drive and work from there. We recommend to always work on files stored internally since Affinity apps require permanent access to the files/do not load them completely to memory. Do you mind attaching the corrupted file to see if we can recover it? I can provide an upload link if you wish to keep the file private. Thanks. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
joshuabbutler Posted July 5, 2021 Author Posted July 5, 2021 yes it was on iCloud. I downloaded it from the iOS version, that is why it was in the iCloud folder on my Mac. Usually working from there hasn't been an issue, but it was one time. Can you send me the private link? Much appreciated! Quote

joshuabbutler Posted July 6, 2021 Author Posted July 6, 2021 But, I have often worked with iCloud and shared a file between iOS and MacOS versions of Photo. Is this causing an error? Quote

With Dropbox you have the option, I remember, to have the file reside in the cloud only, but that's not the case with iCloud. Staff MEB Posted July 6, 2021 Staff Posted July 6, 2021 Hi @joshuabbutler, I meant Google Drive/File Stream, not iCloud sorry. Thanks for the file. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
joshuabbutler Posted July 6, 2021 Author Posted July 6, 2021 Thanks @MEB. I use only iCloud. So I mainly use the iPad version of Photo. Then I'll put graphics on top of the file on the desktop version. This time, I was just finalizing with some last minute updates, and I closed the file, then opened again to do something I forgot and it gave me the "failed to load". Quote
joshuabbutler Posted July 10, 2021 Author Posted July 10, 2021 @MEB Here is another issue "corrupt file" that happened with Affinity Publisher to me today. This has happened a few times now between Photo and Publisher. Quote
