When changing the position of the stroke on an object using the stroke alignment panel (Inside, Middle, Outside) please provide the ability for the object to snap to either the Inside, Middle, or Outside of the object when snapping is activated. Currently the way the program works... when an object has the stroke aligned to the outside, then the object still snaps to the inside edge where the fill or image begins. If the stroke is aligned to the middle, then the object still snaps the the fill edge, so the stroke is on top of the snap line. And the same is true for the stroke when aligned to inside. So please allow for any one alignment option of the stroke to be combined with any one snap position. This would result in 9 possible alignment-snap combos.

1) Stroke Outside - Snap Outside

2) Stroke Outside - Snap Middle

3) Stroke Outside - Snap Inside

4) Stroke Middle - Snap Outside

5) Stroke Middle - Snap Middle

6) Stroke Middle - Snap Inside

7) Stroke Inside - Snap Outside

😎 Stroke Inside - Snap Middle

9) Stroke Inside- Snap Inside

Thanks,

David

It always snaps to the boundary/geometry of the object/line. The position and width of the stroke is irrelevant.

This has been my experience and if there is a screenshot you might share please do. But on my side this is what Ive experienced. You are right that I gotten it to snap to the bounding box itself... but I am referring to the ability to be more precise by having more decision making ability.

For EX: While it does snap to the bounding box itself, lets say that the stroke of an object is set to "Outside". And lets say that the object is snapped to a guide. Well then the snapping location will be on the outside of the object.... but inside of the stroke. And because there are situations where I don't like the look of an inside or middle stroke, then it would be nice to have the option of being able to snap an outside stroked object.... to the outside of the stroke itself. That example would satisfy the number 1 I posted for that scenario.  Because what currently happens in that same scenario.... is that the outside stroke.. overlaps outside the snapping point. And this example is only for scenario 1.

If there any buttons or switches I am missing to make this happen please let me know and would be grateful.

Thanks

You are not missing anything, what you want to do is not possible. The curve is what you align to, the thickness and location (inside/on/outside) of the stroke is independent of the curve. When you consider that Designer can assign multiple strokes to a curve the 9 possible alignments quickly gets out of hand.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I'll just add. As I have already written, snapping takes place to the geometry of an object / curve.

If you need to snap to object Stroke (inside or outside area), then you need to duplicate and convert object/curve to Stroke (menu Layer, Expand Stroke).

After snapping, you can then delete the auxiliary object.
