Scottymac Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Hi, I purchased Affinity Photo last week and was trying it out for the first time today. It seems to have a problem opening any files, even after re-installing. This is literally all I have done since I purchased the app: The first time I used it, I loaded a png file. It loaded OK but as I tried to zoom out it just froze and the application went white. After that, even creating a blank file would cause it to crash. I uninstalled, rebooted, re-installed and ran the app with CTRL held down and did a factory reset. Now I can create a blank file, but I can't do anything else - I can't even open a small PNG image (66kb). It sits in this screen indefinitely saying "Loading 1 Image" as shown below. I'm running it on Windows 10 Lenovo X1 Carbon with 16GB Ram and 4K display. My wife has the exact same laptop and hasn't had any issues with her copy of Affinity Photo. Any ideas on how to resolve this or troubleshoot? Quote
Scottymac Posted July 3, 2021 Author Posted July 3, 2021 I am able to open files if I disable hardware acceleration. I'll continue to troubleshoot and see if any drivers need updating - but would appreciate any other advice if you have any thoughts. Thanks Quote
walt.farrell Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Other than updating the drivers (really, uninstalling them and installing the updated ones), my only suggestion would be to look for crash reports and if the crashes are providing them, look at them to see where the error is occurring, or upload them here for one of us or Serif to examine. Congratulations on figuring out that disabling the hardware accelaration would help.
