Vector brush tool won’t switch to solid brushes

When selecting any solid brush, the vector brush tool doesn’t switch to it. If I select another type of brush instead, like a textured intensity brush, it will switch to it, but it still won’t allow me to switch to my solid brush from there.

Creating a new category or a new solid brush doesn’t fix the issue, and I’ve also tried force quitting the app as well as restarting the iPad, but the problem persists and can be replicated.

My system: 3rd Gen 11 inch iPad Pro (this year model with the M1 chip), software version 14.6

Affinity Designer: The in-app settings show version 1.9.9, despite that in the chronology of the Apple App Store the latest release is 1.9.2.
