imagefirst Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Not sure I am in the correct forum, but figured I'd give it shout with this question. I am wondering how others organize their fonts. I am using Publisher on Windows 10. I know there is font manager software out there, but what all are you using? I would love to go to my fonts tool, click the down arrow and find folders such Script or Serif Only, or however I name them or even list them by style and then alphabetical, what ever works best. Appreciate your responses in advance!! Quote
Staff DWright Posted July 5, 2021 Staff Posted July 5, 2021 You can mark the fonts you use the most as a favourite then when you select the font family box select the Favourite sort option to only show these fonts Quote
PixelPest Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 I have a similar question. MacOS BigSur comes with an unbelievable number of variants of NotoSans fonts that I will never need or use, but have to scroll through about 100 entries each time. How can I exclude them? This is driving me crazy. Shall I disable them with FontBook? Messing with System Fonts was never a good idea on macOS. Any hints are more than welcome. Quote

These aren't accessible through the Font menu in the Context Toolbar, but they are in the Font pull-down in the Character Panel in Studio. For example I created a FontBook Collection called "Purchased", dragged my own fonts into it, and now they're easily available in the Character Panel. Publisher shown here, but it works for Photo and Designer too: (He who dies with the most fonts wins. I'm losing badly. 😉) PixelPest 1 Quote Affinity Photo 2.6.3, Affinity Designer 2.6.3 Affinity Publisher 2.6.3, Mac OSX 15.5, 2018 MacBook Pro 15" Intel.
PixelPest Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 Thanks for the suggestion - will try. (me - font collector for more than 3 decades buried under pyramids of glyphs) Quote
PixelPest Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 Weired: FontBook just listed 40 NotoSans Variants while another Vector editor didn´t list any of them (runs localised) and Affinity.apps are confronting me with one hundred NotoSans families and some has up to 9 variants - I start to think Apple messed up something when delivered the M1 Macs. This can´t be right. Aunt Edith says: What already helped but just in Character Tab is set it to the language you´re using; all foreign support fonts are not displayed - what a relief. I like to have that in the font chooser though and not to have the Character Tab opened. Quote

Aunt Edith's idea is a good one though. 2 hours ago, PixelPest said: I like to have that in the font chooser though and not to have the Character Tab opened. Me too. And before you ask, I’m nowhere near that: I’m in the low five figures and likely to remain so. h_d 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
Old Bruce Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 I only get into four figures because of the fonts that came with my copy of Canvas by Deneba(?). I think I have only ever used ... probably none of them. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
