Guys, please, trying to understand the simple thing that I have done directly on Photoplus X4 for ages. ;-)

Let's say I have two transparent layers and that I want to select with the square-selection-tool a portion of layer #1 and have it deleted, how should I proceed? Is MASK the only way to do this? On PPX4 I would just select and hit DELETE. But now if I try that it deletes the whole layer. Gahhhh... ;-)

Thanks! Cheers.

Check the Layers panel. Make sure that you have a (Pixel) layer, and not an (Image) layer.

If you have an (Image) layer you need to rasterize it using the right-click context menu or the Layer menu.

Yes, it's already PIXEL, something I learned from PPX4 already. ;-)  ;-)

Maybe I forgot to RAST the layer.... gaaaahhhhhhhh.

If I had a nickel for every time I did that... I could get the vastly overpriced Mac Pro.

Here is my normal workflow

repeat at least 6 times:

   [ Undo, select, delete,  gaaaahhhhhhhh]

Ohhh....

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

The next part is how to quickly select and duplicate a portion of an image (pixel). Will try again now, just in case. But on PPX4 I would hold ALT to make a copy of the selection.

Ctrl+J will copy the selection as a new pixel layer.
