Stupid question: Do I have to keep all the download files for my purchased brushes, assets and fonts that I purchased from Affinity in my iPad files folder even after they have been installed? I’m wondering how they work. Where are they are saved? Are they stored in the app once installed or does the app read the files from my file folder? I’m asking because I would like to free up as much memory and cloud space as possible.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

That's actually a very good question. I can't comment on fonts, but for the others the application installs copies of them into it's own files in your file system. So, technically, you don't need to keep them.

However, it's good to keep them as backups in case you need to reinstall them later.

Thanks, Walt. I have noticed that Affinity seems to keep all the files I have purchased directly from them but you’re right. If they ever decide to purge their files then I might regret deleting mine. Thanks for the info on how the application works. I might try a mini experiment on the fonts by deleting one of my files to see if it still works.

You're welcome.

Yes, assuming that Serif stays in business you can recover files you've purchased from them from your account at the Affinity Store. And the same may be true of other content that you purchase on other sites, or download from some free site.

But if you need to reinstall brushes or assets or whatever because you've switched machines, or because something happened to the application's internal files, it will be significantly easier to reinstall them if you don't have to remember or rediscover where you originally downloaded something but can simply use the files you used for the original installation :)
