Deborah21 Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I have just decided that I really should update my software from Serif and now purchased all 3 Affinities. I am hoping that I haven't wasted my money as I am trying to redo my work invoices and cant find how to put in spreadsheet functions onto the table. I've looked in the forums here and saw that back in 19 it wasn't a function and was hoping that by now it would be. Can't think why you would want a table without spreadsheet functions. Or do I continue with my beloved Serif and forget about the £70 I just forked out? Quote
Joachim_L Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Welcome to the Affinity forums @Deborah21! I am sorry to tell you, that there are no spreadsheet functions in Affinity Publisher (or the other two applications). Deborah21 Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Thank you for your quick reply. That will save me a lot of wasted time. I shall just shelve the programs then. My daughter might be able to make use of the photo one but I shan't bother with the others. Was hoping to be able to update our business stationary and the website but I will stick to Serif as it does everything I want and need it to do. Serif has some lovely templates that you can use as is or alter to what you want. I do all our accounts using tables I have created with Serif. Our website was done with Web Plus, all our stationary is Serif designed. I also use Serif to design our Product labels which included cutting out Photos. All very easy and worked wonderfully. I should have known if it ain't broke don't fix it. I don't like the dark workspace either and can't find how to change that. Sorry for the rant. Very disappointed with the New Affinity not as easy to use as Serif. Quote
GarryP Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Just so you know, Affinity = Serif. Serif used to make other software but they only make the Affinity range now. P.S. You can change the dark workspace to light by going to Preferences / User Interface and changing the UI Style. Deborah21 1 Quote

Deborah21 Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Thank you Gary for the info on changing the workspace. I know Serif and Affinity came from the same stable. They have been trying to get me to upgrade my Serif packages for years. I even tried importing a table from an invoice this morning but it would only import as a picture/object so was un usable as a table. Nothing too complicated box A x Box B = Box C total at the bottom +delivery and 20% vat etc but if I can't do this with the new Affinity Publisher it isn't going to be publishing anything for me any time soon. Maybe I will be able to use the recipe book template.🤔 Quote
Bettyirene Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Can you tell me which version of serif page plus you use to do spreadsheets Quote

Tables in professional page layout apps are not intended to serve as spreadsheets but to make tables in documents. Ideally you'd use a billing app that generates invoices but if you don't have that and you just want an invoice template to add up some numbers and apply tax before printing then I recommend using MS Excel or Apple Numbers. Ron P. Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 I recommend using Libreoffice. It's a full office suite, just as powerful as MS Office, but has about the best price, it's open source.... free!!
