Do you need to have both Designer& Photo for studio link to work on Publisher?

Hello all!

 I I require only Affinity Designer on desktop and don’t want to buy Photo,can I still use studio link on Publisher ? Or do I need to purchase the whole affinity suite ( designer,photo & Publisher) for Studio link to work ? 
If someone can convince me about the great experience they have had with studio link,that would be great help for me to decide whether to go in for the affinity suite on desktop. I already have designer and photo on iPad and was thinking that I could make do with that and just purchase publisher on desktop.. but yeah,then I can’t use studio link. Please help me decide before June 30th ..TIA!

You do not need both Photo and Designer. It will work with just one.

However, it gives you access only to the primary Persona of Designer or Photo. So, with only Designer, Publisher would give you access to the Designer Persona, but not to the Pixel Persona. For any pixel editing that requires tools from the Pixel Persona you would need to leave Publisher and open your file in the full Designer application.

It is an excellent feature and such an innovation!... saves me a lot of time!... messing around with large files.
It also assists with other features like:

Universal file Format
As the file formats are the same/interchangeable it means you sort of have unrestricted editing....
Conversion and Editing (AD artboard to Publisher Page)
I use this lots (just opening AD files)
Embedding and Linking
Converting/process docs and packaging (Link to embed and visa versa)
