gingerging Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Hi, I am having to use v 1.9.2 due to still unresolved 1.9.3 crash issues (disabling acceleration did not improve and I have all the latest drivers). I am finding I problem when I adjust curves on my astro images after integrating them. Once integrated, I apply and start to adjust the image (pic 1). I start by bringing down the black and bringing up the gamma whilst using the histogram as a guide (Pic 2). But now when I 'merge', the actual result is almost pitch black as the black end of the histogram has gone WAY over, even though it was nowhere near that on the histogram when I was adjusting it (pic 3). I attach some pictures as reference. Also... Whilst I am here, a while ago when i selected 'curves' (for example but its the same for all tools) the tools dialogue box used to appear.... now I get the 'drop down' options (pic 1)and select (for example) 'Default' and THEN the dialogue box now appears (pic 2). Why has that changed? Also... Why are the colours never balanced for my astro image imports, even though i select the right debayer method (have also tried inferred and actually every option there is). You can see this from the same images I posted here for the question above (pics 1 & 2). It would be good to be able to use the latest version but I can't due to the unresolved long term stability issues of 1.9.3. Thank you in advance Quote

Why has that changed? It was changed because the old behavior was causing problems in certain common workflows. You can also get an Adjustments dialog directly by clicking the Adjustments icon at the bottom of the Layers panel, or using the Layers menu (Layer > New Adjustment Layer). Staff Callum Posted July 5, 2021 Staff Posted July 5, 2021 Hi Gingering, Are you able to provide a screen recording or steps I could follow to reproduce the crash you are experiencing? In regards to you problem with merging I think I may need to take a look at the file is there any chance you can provide a copy of it? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.

Well the screen grabs above are for the histogram problem, not the crashing. Screen grabs are pretty pointless as all you see is a 'whited out' Affinity screen. I have found with the latest version the (193) app constantly crashes / freezes mid-process; it seemed almost random, happening on pretty much any operation. I could not find a pattern apart from 100% crashing at some point within 10 minutes , and I had no option but to close and start over whilst remembering to save every operation just in case, which was laborious. So I searched all over for advice on this one and Affinity seem to blame Intel video drivers (I have a Dell AOI and everything is up to date). I tried disabling the acceleration like other advice given, and that made no difference either. So in the end I had to roll back to v192. Quote
