Joachim_L Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 When you place a PDF with form elements as Passthrough, the form elements will be shown (even form elements are highlighted), but the form is not preserved, when you export as PDF again. Additionally, more painful, checkboxes and radios I made are omitted, when the form PDF is opened / edited. I had hope, that these elements were kept, as they were simple rectangles, circles made in ID. More a feature request? I would expect all the content to be there visually in the PDF exported from Publisher, so if it's not that seems like a bug. However, I'm not sure what you mean by opening and editing the form PDF. The PDF you export is not a "form PDF". It is a PDF created by Publisher, and Publisher cannot create forms. I would not expect that having another PDF embedded within the Publisher PDF would change that. Or are PDF viewers more clever than I realize? Can they Open an inner-PDF contained in an outer-PDF, as Publisher can do with its Edit Document button? I would expect that a Passthrough PDF just gives you an accurate visual reprsentation of the PDF content, but I suppose it could allow more than that and I just haven't realized that yet. But my only concern is, that graphical elements will be removed. AlanPickup Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 I have used PagePlus to design editable pdf forms and out of interest i tried placing one of these in an APub document, and I think what Joachim means is that although the pdf fields showin in Apub they do not carry through to the pdf when exported see below Apub screen grab and pdf export screen grab. The blue hilight elements are fields I have used pdfsam basic to merge a aPub pdf with an editable pdf from another app Joachim_L 1 Quote Alan Pickup Windows 11 Home all Affinity suite of Apps PC and Gigabyte Laptop 16gb Ram and Nvidia GTX1660 Super on each.
Staff Gabe Posted June 30, 2021 Staff Posted June 30, 2021 Hi all, PDF forms are not meant o be resaved/re-exported so it's expected what you see -them turning into a basic (plain) pdf. If you attach a sample file with simple elements missing, we can log that. Quote

Staff Gabe Posted June 30, 2021 Staff Posted June 30, 2021 Well, that is still an interactive feature(regardless of how you created it), and not plain curves. We can't import/passthrough any interactive features, so what you see now (things missing) is expected. Joachim_L 1 Quote

Poppler has a different opinion about my file, when I use this library with Inkscape. To shorten this: I will patiently wait for official form support in the Affinities.
