I'm using windows. I have a new Canon 5dMk IV and when opening new files the raw files don't show the thumbnails, they just show the Affinity logo. They open just fine but I often don't know what pic I'm opening. JPEGs can be seen. My old Canon Camera the raw files can be seen. Thank you

@DarrenG This isn't an Affinity issue it's a windows issue.

This post on the fredmiranda site: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1590444 is the same problem and was solved by buying the fast viewer codec pack: https://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/

You could also try the free image viewer xnViewMP: https://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/ you can set it up to Open with... and select Affinity Photo. Unfortunately I don't have a canon raw image to test with so you'll have to download, install and test for yourself whether you'll get thumbnails, but it's a pretty good app.

I've asked on the xnView MP forum for clarification re support for the Canon 5D Mark IV .CR3 files here: https://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=42068

You could also checkout SageThumbs (https://www.cherubicsoft.com/en/projects/sagethumbs). I'm not sure if it works with your particular file type, but it does say "SageThumbs is a powerful shell extension allowing to preview enormous amount of image formats directly in Windows Explorer by using Pierre-e Gougelet's GFL library (XnView's author)."

Credit to Old Bruce for actually reading the manual and spotting that Phocus Mac users get quite a few more file options compared to Windows users.

Can you expand on that a bit, please?
