DKG Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 I'm using 1.9.2 on Windows 10 (version 20H2, OS build 19042.1052) Intel core i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz, 16 GB RAM I cannot find a way to import an image onto another open image. When I use the place tool - it opens up the file explorer and lets me pick an image. The cursor is changed to the placing-an-image cursor, but neither clicking once nor clicking and dragging will give me an image. Nothing shows up. I also cannot drag and drop an image. I click and drag an image from explorer, the cursor turns into a small + sign over the affinity image, but when I let go - nothing appears. Nothing is in the layers. I am at a loss. I can only get it to work if I delete the program and go back to 1.8. Looking forward to your help. Quote
walt.farrell Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. My first suggestion would be that you open your Photo Preferences (Edit > Preferences), click on Performance, and see if you have the new Hardware Acceleration (OpenCL) function enabled. There's a setting at the bottom of the Performance section. If it is enabled, disable it, close Preferences, restart Photo, and see if that resolves the problem. A number of users are having problems with that new performance option due to issues with their graphics drivers, so when odd things happen in 1.9 on Windows that's a good place to start. DKG Posted June 29, 2021 Author Posted June 29, 2021 That fixed it! You're a genius. Thanks so much. It worked just fine on my Mac - so this was really aggravating! thanks, DKG Chris B 1 Quote

jafo Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 I have been a supporter of serif software for over 20 years. In recent years I have been developing .png and .jpg images using DrawPlus and incorporating them into PagePlus. But trying to incorporate this images onto an affinity file is frustrating. As an example, an image I created with DrawPlus for an astronomy course is rendered by Affinity with a yellow background and with the lines breaking up. What is going wrong? I note that the image rendered by Affinity is only 10kb while the original is 22kb. If I cannot resolve this, it is no use my using the software and I will continue with my PagePlus7. I'd be grateful for your advice John Fannon Quote

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. First, a comment: Your post does not seem to be related to the topic you posted in. It would be better to create your own topic in that case. Perhaps one of the moderators will split this thread off from that topic so it gets better attention. For the yellow background, perhaps this FAQ article will help: For the lines breaking up: Is that second image the one you were placing into Affinity? Which Affinity application are you using? How are you getting it into Affinity? You say that the "image rendered by Affinity" is only 10KB. What do you mean by "the image rendered by Affinity"? Which image? Can you supply the native Affinity file (.afphoto, .afpub, etc.) for us to examine? jafo Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Hi Walt, thanks for responding the second image with the white background is a drawing created using DrawPlus and exported as a jpg. I have copied and pasted this into other programmes withot problems "Rendered by Affinity". I probably lack the vocabulary to describe the process. What I did was to click on the place image tool in Affinity Publisher which then opened up the browse window. I navigated to my Astronomy folder and located on the jpg which you see in white. I clicked on this and moved the cursor onto the Affinity page and dropped the image there. It came out with a yellow background. I have tried this with other images in my files the same result. There is no native Affinity file - basically I am trying to copy a file produced by another Serif programme. Looking at the link you have kindly sent me, I have used my display BenQ G950A for some years now without any problems whatsoever. I've now checked it and verified that the profile sRGB IEC61966-2.1 is already set as default. I begin to wonder whether Affinity Publisher is right for me at all, and maybe stick to serif PagePlus. Komatös Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Can you please attach a file that has the issue with the yellow backround? So more eyes see more. Please attach as zip or rar, so that no preview image is generated. jafo Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Hi Komatös I have created a single page document with Affinity Publisher and compressed it in RAR format. It is odd, but the preview icon of affinity_test.afpub shows the jpg as I would expect without the yellow background. But when open the file with Affinity Publisher, the jpg is displayed with a yellow background I hope you can solve the problem Best wishes John affinity_test.rar Quote
Komatös Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 For me, as you can see, the jpg is displayed with a white background. I have no idea why your background is yellow. If it were a bug in the colour profile, all white areas would appear yellow and not just partially. jafo Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Thanks for trying. I have extracted the afpub file from the rar I sent you and opened it again on Affinity Publisher. (v 1.9.2.1035) I get the yellow background as before. The yellow colour is just within the frame. I think just give up at this point. Life is too short. I will seek a refund. Thanks again John Quote
